The seedless lime tree (Citrus latifolia Tanaka) was introduced to Vietnam in 1994 and then developed in Ben Luc, Long An. The tree has a wide adaptability and can grow in many different ecological regions from mountainous lands to alluvial-rich soils. The seedless lime growing area in Long An is considered the largest in the country with a concentrated area of over 10,000 hectares, of which Ben Luc accounts for over 60%.
The reputation of Ben Luc Long An seedless limes is not only shown through the scale and export value but also through prestigious awards such as "Typical National Agricultural Product of the Year Award" by ‘The Central Vietnam Farmers' Union recognizing the years from 2014 to 2017.

Ben Luc Long An seedless lime has specific sensory properties such as: Firm fruit, thick glands; The shell is dark green, bright, evenly colored, the surface contains many essential oil sacs. Fruit weight: 55 – 77 grams; Fruit length: 5 - 7.5 cm; Fruit diameter: 4 - 6.3 cm. Fruit juice rate: 42.6 – 49.9 %; Vitamin C content: 37.3 - 40.5 mg/100g; Organic acid content: 6.6 – 7.8%; Lime essential oil content: 0.21 - 0.24%.
The unique properties of Ben Luc Long An seedless lime are due to the unique natural conditions and growing techniques of the geographical area.
The soil conditions of the geographical area have a light loam structure, a mixture of three types of sand, alluvial soil and clay; has good water retention ability; enough ventilation; rich in nutrients (average NH4+ content reaches 5.12 mg/100g); High humus content, mild acidity (from 5.5 to 6.5).
These properties of the soil in the geographical area help inhibit the conversion process from chloroplast to chromoplast in the lime peel, the color change process in the peel will be slower, so Ben Luc Long An seedless lime are green darker than seedless lime grown in Binh Duong and Hau Giang.
